Our engineering team worked with a client at Ryan Elementary school to design a chair that would improve students' attention and focus in the classroom by allowing for freedom of movement while sitting down. After many conceptual iterations, we created several chairs made from interlocking sections of laser-cut material with a curved bottom surface to allow students to rock and wobble around. One version of our chair is made from plywood sections and another is made from cardboard and treated with Line-X truck bed liner for reinforcement. Our chair can be easily and cheaply manufactured and could be implemented in many other similar schools.
